My Backyard: Shelburne Farm

October 21, 2014

“Did you go apple picking this weekend?”  It’s Monday morning and if you’re living in New England between September 1st and Ocotober 31st, this is probably one of the most frequently asked questions at the start of your work week. Every year, like clock work. (Well, at least until the New England Patriots start another nail biting season.  Then you had better reset your priorities!) Seriously! Around here, apple picking, fresh cider donuts, hay rides and pumpkin patches are just as much signs of a new season as warm foliage hues and crisp cooler mornings.

Around this time of year, one of my favorite spots to visit is Shelburne Farm in Stow, Massachusetts.  With tons of activities for the kiddos on the weekend,  you’re definitely more likely to run into sticky screaming toddlers than if you choose to make a weekday trip. I definitely prefer a weekday visit!

If you happen to be in or around New England in the next couple of weeks, try stopping by an apple orchard or a pumpkin patch to scoop up some fresh apple cider donuts. Your stomach will thank me!

So, what about you? What are some of your favorite ways to usher in autumn? Tell me all about it!
