Much like everyone else in New York City, I’m trying to wring the most out of these last summerish days like a moist gym towel. So I’m hitting the pavement hard.  Just a few blocks outside my (relatively) new neighborhood is D.U.M.B.O, Brooklyn. It’s pretty fun and funny  for me to play tourist in my new home, unsuccessfully dodging tourist traps much like every other traveler on these streets. But here’s what I’ve managed to gauge thus far….

DOs: wander up and down narrow streets to catch some of NYCs architectural grandeur; pick up some cholesterol spiking grub from NYC staples Shake Shack or Grimaldis

DON’Ts: stillettos (this beautifully cobble stoned neighborhood has zero love for all shoes over 2 1/2  inches); step inside any restaurant where someone is beckoning you to come hither (aside from the creep factor, the food’s usually not that great and wicked expensive)

Dress: Reformation

Shoes: Chucks

Have you ever visited D.U.M.B.O? If so, share some of your favorite spots in the comments!
