Tulum Dreams!

April 12, 2015

Tulum Pueblo, I heart you! Set among the lush wild jungles of the Yucatan and the pristine turquoise waters of the Carribean, Tulum is a magical escape not to be overlooked. With each visit, this golden nugget of the Riviera Maya is starting to feel more like a home away from home. The smiles, vibrant colors, and second skin from a balmy forecast keep drawing me back to this ever emerging Mexican destination.

Not to be mistaken for NYC’s sixth borough, Tulum Beach, Tulum Pueblo is still very much an authentic travel experience. With Mayan culture permeating throughout this little town, you’ll be hard pressed to get by without an open mind and some Spanish speaking skills. Don’t have any? Then Tulum is the perfect place to start!

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m no expert when it comes to Mexican cuisine,  but mouthwatering dishes like those found at Taqueria Honorio made me an instant fan. I ate at this gem no less than four times during my short visit to Tulum. Unfortunately, no pictures of the actual food were taken because it was just that good!

This mini getaway was a solo adventure for me. I get asked a lot of questions about solo travel and how I often find the cojones to explore the world by myself.  Yet, I’m beginning to realize that the best part of solo travel is that in this incredibly vast home we call planet Earth, I’m never truly alone!

Where: Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico
