Blue Caves, Zakynthos

DSC08309Kool-Aid. Blue flavored Kool-Aid to be exact.  I can’t help it. It’s all that comes to mind when I think about the Blue Caves of Zakynthos.  The last time I saw water this color blue, I was 7 years old.  Meticulously mixing 1 part water to 5 parts sugar to 2 parts blue flavored Kool-Aid mix for that perfect summertime thirst quencher! That sense of nostalgia and an excitement for the unknown, sent this postcard worthy adventure right to the top of my Zante ‘Must Do’ list!

DSC08376DSC08355We drove up to Porto Vromi and got a boat hire for the morning that took us to Navagio Beach and the Blue Caves.  The boats leaving from Porto Vromi are smaller with much less capacity, making for a more comfortable and relaxing ride.

DSC08384I spent the better part of this excursion in utter disbelief over Mother Nature’s raw beauty.  The rest of the time I spent entertaining our guide with my nonexistent aquatic skills!

Just another unbelievable day in Zante. Wake me up when it’s all over!

I’m visiting Zakinthos this year! Your photos have really convinced me. Which boat/tour company did you book the boat trip with??

Hello Carolyn! I’m beyond excited that you’re going to experience this wonderful treasure. We literally drove to Porto Vromi and bartered our way into a cheaper boat ride with a random fisherman. There are several options there. Hope this helps!
